Delegates of any experience level are welcome to SDYC! Even without prior experience, SDYC, with 1 beginner double-delegation committee, will cater to your needs.

How can I apply as a Chair?

Chairing positions at SDYC are reserved only for students from NUS High who apply through an internal process.

External delegates are required to pay a delegate fee of $65. This will entitle them to 3 days worth of meals and a certificate of participation. No, unfortunately we are not accepting independent delegates now.

Is there a required attire that I must wear for the conference?

All delegates should dress in Western Business Attire (WBA) while at SDYC. As a general rule, WBA requires that delegates dress in a suit jacket, slacks or skirt, dress shirt with tie, and dress shoes. If delegates are unable to acquire WBA, delegates are allowed to dress in school uniform. It should be a formal school uniform with a dress shirt with tie, long pants or skirt and covered shoes.

What makes the SDYC different from other MUNs?

SDYC has a strong focus on sustainable development, which is a concept grounded upon the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals to overcome global challenges and secure a better future for subsequent generations.

Furthermore, we feature Council Activities in our programme lineup. Delegates will get to know one another in a more light-hearted manner outside of debate through fun and games!

How many council sessions must I attend to qualify for a Certificate of Participation?

You must attend at least 4 out of 7 council sessions to qualify for a Certificate of Participation and be eligible for awards consideration.

Are delegate swaps allowed?

Delegates are strictly not allowed to swap allocations. However, delegate replacements are allowed, provided that

(i) the original delegate informs the Secretariat with due reason why he or she cannot attend the conference

(ii) the replacement delegate is affiliated to the delegation.

The details of delegate replacement must be made known to the SDYC Secretariat by 15th August 2023 via email.
