UNDP

As the largest UN development aid agency, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has a monumental task on its shoulders: to help countries eliminate poverty, achieve sustainable economic growth and human development. Working in nearly 170 countries and territories, they help countries develop policies, leadership skills, partnerships and institutional capabilities to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. The UNDP’s work is centered around their signature solutions: poverty and inequality, governance, resilience, environment, energy and gender equality.

Post Conflict Remediation to Prevent Political Resurgence

Imagine this: A conflict has just ended. The local environment is in ruins, infrastructure destroyed, the economy in shambles and morale at an all time low. This is the time when the region is most susceptible to political resurgence, when political extremism might be on the rise.

As such, the UNDP, alongside local authorities and entities, has a monumental task on its shoulders: to stabilize the local environment. This is often done through remediation, parachuting supplies and individuals to help locals get back on their feet and allow for the local environment to stabilize and go back to its normal, pre-conflict state.
