The UNICEF

UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund, was established in 1946 after World War II ended, and is committed to protecting the most disadvantaged children. UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children's lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential. It also aims to eliminate child labour and protect refugee children, through collaborations and humanitarian aid.

Child Labour and Refugee Children

Child labour is a worldwide phenomenon, with millions of children carrying out work that harms their well-being, safety and health, that hinders their education, development and potential. As such, delegates can expect to debate about how best to reduce risk to children, remove child labour from supply chains and improve their access to quality education.

Refugee children often encounter many challenges - danger, discrimination and detention, to name a few. They are put at risk to violence, miss out on education, and find it hard to fit in with communities they arrive in, preventing them from reaching their full potential. Hence, delegates can expect to discuss about how best to protect children from harms and provide them with basic rights.
